…It’s not the Bank, but the men in the Bank

Honestly, this particular blog should have been posted some time back but even as I prepared for my return to Lagos, every passing second was tied to the next in a manner that even I, with all my ambidexterity could not untangle.

I remember vividly, it was one of those days when am running full capacity-tasks lay ahead with assignments way over my head, it's hard to pen the items down so I try as much to store them all in my head (RAM-faster R/RW), phone calls to make, and still, I had to code today…It was one of those todays you don't want to live tomorrow.

A call comes in from my dad and he requested I send him my account number, I did, but unfortunately due to all the work pressure, I sent the wrong account number. Well, he went ahead and paid it in, those at the counter didn't also find any reason to question the deposit and all seemed to be good until…Until I had some time to breathe-and think, and I started wondering why I'd not gotten a notification for the payment 1 hour after it was made. Out of curiosity, I checked the text message I'd earlier sent and to my dismay, all but one-just one!...of the digits was wrong. I hated myself for making that mistake and immediately tried to salvage the situation.

At the Barber shop...

After spending the day working out of the office-it'd been a crazy past 2 weeks, i decided to go pay my good friend Hauwa a visit. I was sure I heard her mind yell, "Damn boy,u need a shave!"-- just to remind you, it was in the past two weeks that i forgot my brother's birthday, shut down the only interface through which a (not too critical) server could be remotely accessed, misquoted my account number-leaving me very stranded and finally my gf threatened to break up with me (that part was sumwat xager8td)...it was a hel'ova week!
Now, before i continue, my barber shop is hood- as in very local...at least at first sight, until the barbers start "putting your head in order". It takes an approximately (unusually long) one and a half hours to shave my head. These guys are pros starting from the way they "light the clipper up"--( i was dazed the first time i witnessed that spectacle). Next, the 1 hour journey to "clean cut" starts...in between, gist after gist,....then after gists and more gists---I guess thats why it's a barbers shop. At times, the guy literally forgets he's shaving someone and then hangs the clipper off your ears and goes to argue his point out thoroughly. BE WARNED, DON'T THINK OF STOPPING BY TO BARB YOUR HAIR IF YOU'RE IN A RUSH. At looong last, he's done, then all of a sudden, this local barber shop transforms to something of a styling and treatment centre. Hair spray, hair steam, hair soap, hair spirit, hair pomade, hair hardener, hair curler...and finally.
Finally, I walk away looking cute at a modest price.
Even I am stunned, though I know I'll be back soon, with my fresh look, I think I might just pay Hauwa another visit.

Whatever you are into and consider a job, especially as an entrepreneur, leave a lasting impression in the mind of your customers. Be service driven, courteous and get the required education that will make you a master of the trade. Remember, there are market women and there is "iyalaaje"

Understanding Direct Inbound/Inward Dialing

Well, after numerous meetings and talks about DIDs and definitely a lot of illustrations and use cases, it would have seemed that I knew what DIDs were, but I didn't. Suddenly, I was given the task to follow up on some providers and the time to really understand what DIDs were had come.
DID is a feature offered by telephone companies for use with their customers' private branch exchange (PBX) systems. In a DID service, the telephone company provides one or more trunk lines to the customer for connection to the customer's PBX and allocates a range of telephone numbers to this line (or group of lines) and forwards all calls to such numbers via the trunk. As calls are presented to the PBX, the dialed destination number (DNIS) is transmitted, usually partially (e.g., last four digits), so that the PBX can route the call directly to the desired telephone extension within the organization without the need for an operator or attendant. The service allows direct inward call routing to each extension while maintaining only a limited number of subscriber lines to satisfy the average concurrent usage of the customer.
Direct Inward Dialing service has similar relevance for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communications. To reach users with VoIP phones, DID numbers are assigned to a communications gateway connected by a trunk to the PSTN network and the VoIP network. The gateway routes and translates calls between the two networks for the VoIP user. Calls originating in the VoIP network will appear to users on the PSTN as originating from one of the assigned DID numbers.

Started my personal blog

Hi Everyone..my friends
Well facebook, twitter and the likes have been there to basically hold us down...checkin out each others profile, meeting new friends and all sorts. I had a reason to rethink the whole idea and i said to maself, why not PUBLISH all thats you've been up to. Honestly, its been a lot...and I must say, its about time it all gets documented-what do u think?
There's nothing serious going on now....Will update you'ol later on my thoughts- from those moments of solitude to the outright 'geekyness'
